Halloween!

Ok...so our pumpkins aren't as cool as Tyson and Sami's but we did our best. I think we spent more time throwing pumkin guts at each other than actually carving them. It was the funnest Halloween activity we did!!! I never finished carving mine. :( bummer.

Preference

My friends and I asked some guys from our ward to the He Haw preference dance with T-shirts. We wrote random names on the back with washable markers and our names in permanent markers. The guys had to wash the shirts to see who asked them. This is a picture of how we asked and another picture of how they answered. They got 3,000 pieces of white paper and taped them together to form a "Yes" on the mountain next to the BYU "Y". It was the coolest thing ever and we were in the BYU and Provo newspaper.

Halloween Pumpkins

This year's Halloween Pumpkin Carving Contest proved to be competitively creative and equally as challenging. While we all know that (our) BYU Cougar should win this year's competition, the votes have still yet to be tallied. Last year, our Bat pumpkin easily won the contest, and our hopes for a repeat victory were initially quite high. But after seeing the competition, we aren't so hopeful anymore. ha ha Anyway, here's some pictures of how they all turned out. Enjoy and happy Halloween!!!

1st Acceptance: Texas A&M Medical School!!!

So, sorry it has been awhile since we have posted anything. I guess we have just been caught up with school and work and everything. But we got some great news this past week...I found out that I got accepted to Texas A&M Medical School!!! They sent me an email on Oct. 15th and then I got the official letter in the mail on Friday. So that is a big relief, even though it is not necessarily my top choice. At least I know I am in somewhere. In the past month I have also interviewed with St. Louis University, the University of Iowa and UT Houston. The trip to St. Louis was pretty crazy. After my interview, I rented a car and began driving to Iowa for my next interview. Along the way, I got a rock chip in the rental car window (with no renter's insurance) and then got pulled over by a stupid highway patrol-man. he showed me the radar gun and had me clocked going 69 in a 65mph zone. Then on top of that, he decided the roads were a little wet, so I deserved to be written a ticket for 75 in a 65. It was extremely lame! So that was $200 bucks I wasn't planning on throwing out the window. Overall though, it was a lot of fun and I got to stop by Nauvoo and walk around for a few minutes. School has been extra crazy because I have had to miss so many days for all of these interviews...so I get to spend all my free time trying catch up. But it has been fun too, and has made me so excited for medical school. Hopefully I will continue to hear back from schools I am waiting on. Sami has been getting bigger and bigger, and the little baby (Cameron) is kicking like crazy all the time. Anyway, things are great and before we know it we'll have a little one running around here (well maybe just crying). Hopefully we can keep up better with posting and keep everyone up to speed. Later!

Hobble Creek Canyon

Hobble Creek Canyon and the beautiful fall leaves. We were coming around a corner at just the right time. With the looming clouds and fresh rain fall, the mountain was glowing. I guess this is proof that fall is really here!

Ford Family Reunion

A great time was had by at this year's Ford Family Reunion. Held at an obscure cabin 20 minutes up a nearby canyon in Paragunah, UT, the reunion included four-wheeling, shotgun shooting, food, basketball, volleyball, fishing, crafts, and fun. We had a great time and didn't want to come home...although I learned that I am a horrible shot with a shotgun (although I'm sure those clay pigeons were pretty scared). We can't wait until the next one two years from now.

Wakeboarding

Summer time means wakeboard time. Thanks to Don, we have been getting wet and getting air. So far I have been working on 180's and even tried a 360...but didn't come close to landing it. Ben, Sheri and Don have been nearly clearing the wake and Sami is taking it a bit easy considering she has a 12 week old baby inside her. (I don't think I have ever heard of a woman 12 weeks pregnant going wakeboarding or even tubing for that matter) We have also been out on the Jet Ski to Deer Creek. It was a little cloudy, but super fun and I can't wait to go again. Anyway, life is good and we're having fun as summer drifts by!!!

And the MCAT Score is......

So, results are in!!! I won't be taking the MCAT again any time soon! After over a month of waiting, my scores are posted....and the score is.....33Q!!! Well, it is not quite my goal of a 35, but it is way more than I thought I was going to get. And it is two points above the average for students that were accepted to medical school last year in both categories. Now I just have to finish reviewing my application and then I can submit it to the schools!!! Oh happy day!

iDVD

The problem with late night DVD burning is that when you are tired everything seems to go much slower. Even now, the internet is inching along at a snail's pace and the DVD burner is even slower. Well, I don't know if it is actually going super slow...maybe I am just really tired and have spent way too long on Sami's school slideshow. This is the second night I have lovingly slaved-away at the tedious task of creating a slideshow DVD complete with music, intro and closing credits. It actually is a really cool program that I would like to use a little more. But after the first 2:00AM trial that failed miserably, and the half finished project that spontaneously deleted itself, needless to say I am tired of the hassel. But I think I have finally cracked the beast and it seems to be working...just really slow. However, if I have overcome the learning curve, we will be seeing more photo DVD's of family trips and fun adventures soon. Thanks iDVD!!!

Well, I guess I will post something too.

New Slang

So, I have never really done anything like this before. I think it will be a good way to stay in touch with family and friends and keep people updated on things. Hopefully I will be able to figure out how to use it and then I will post some pictures. It should be fun!
